An engagement shoot is the perfect way to capture your relationship before you walk down the aisle. It’s a unique opportunity to include all the important moments in your relationship, from first dates to the proposal.
The photos will be a keepsake you can share forever. Plus, having an engagement shoot will help keep your excitement levels high while planning your big day!
TIPS FOR YOUR ENGAGEMENT PORTRAITS
time & place
means something to you ideally
Choose a location that means something to you e.g. your favourite beach, woodland walk or a cosy corner of town. We’ll aim for golden hour (sunrise or the last hour before sunset) for soft, flattering light, and a weekday where it’s quieter and more private.
We’ll plan one area with variety (e.g. shoreline, woods + open field) so we get different looks without lots of travel.
I’ll handle logistics: check tides/parking/permits, allow for a short walk in on moor/woods, and line up a Plan B (sheltered spot or reschedule) if the weather turns.
Seasonal notes: spring blossom, long summer evenings, autumn colour, or winter layers all photograph beautifully, there’s no “wrong” time.

Keep simple & comfortable
Coordinate (don’t match) 2–3 complementary colours; neutrals/earthy tones and light layers always photograph well. Aim for pieces you can move in and that feel like you.
Textures over logos: knit, linen, denim and cotton beat big logos, neon and very shiny fabrics. Small prints are fine; avoid tiny stripes that can shimmer on camera.
Fit & layers: go for a comfortable, flattering fit (not too baggy), add a jumper/jacket, and bring a scarf/blanket for variety.
Shoes: wear walkable footwear (trainers/boots/wellies for beaches or moor); you can bring a dressier pair to change into.
Little details: empty pockets, remove smartwatches/hair bobbles, lint-roll, steam/iron if needed, clean the ring and tidy nails. Glasses wearers—anti-glare helps (or we’ll angle to avoid reflections).
Optional polish: use your hair/make-up trial for the shoot and bring a light jacket/umbrella and water.
